About us
The National Pharmaceutical Council is a health policy research organization dedicated to the advancement of good evidence and science, and to fostering an environment in the United States that supports medical innovation. NPC's research helps to inform many critical health care policy debates and supports the organization's overall goal of achieving the best patient outcomes in the most efficient way possible. Over the years, the issues we have focused on have evolved along with the changes in the health care environment and pharmaceutical industry. NPC’s current research examines the most pressing topics in comparative effectiveness research (CER), individual treatment effects, and the optimal role and value of pharmaceuticals in emerging payment and delivery models.

Another clip from my interview with Cameron Santoro of AJMC - The American Journal of Managed Care is live! In this video, I shared my favorite thing from #AMCP2024: how much I loved interacting with the next generation of researchers. I was energized by conversations with students and early career researchers about their passions and professional aspirations. Check out the interview below for conference highlights from me, Adam Colborn and Jennifer L. Mathieu of AMCP, Jenny Craven, PharmD, BCPS of UC Davis Health, Andy Killpack of Prime Therapeutics, and Leslie Fish of IPD Analytics!

Today, the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) and NEWDIGS Initiative at Tufts Medical Center released a white paper addressing the expanding #genetherapy market. The work identifies market solutions and #policy reforms to mitigate the challenges of financing gene therapies, and we appreciate ICER/NEWDIGS' engagement in this conversation. My colleagues at the National Pharmaceutical Council and I shared highlights of the paper's key takeaways and opportunities to build on the framing, scope, and proposed payment methods. Innovation in how we pay for new medicines is crucial. We should collectively strive for a valuation framework that is equitable, comprehensive, and sensitive to the innovative nature of #gene #therapies to ensure their full potential is realized and made available to those in need. Read the blog post below for more!

Spring has been a busy conference season so far! Between APhA and the IVI Methods Summit in March and AMCP last week, I'm thankful for the chance to connect with so many colleagues, both old and new, and share about the work that the National Pharmaceutical Council is leading in #health #policy. In case you didn't know, #NPC has a weekly newsletter that succinctly summarizes health policy research across the industry and provides links for additional reading. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the latest updates on #IRA, #patient access, #340B, and so much more! https://bit.ly/npctw-tw I hope to see many of you at ISPOR Annual next month in Atlanta! #ISPOR2024 #HEOR The following pictures are a glimpse of NPC's presence at #AMCP2024 and my involvement in moderating a conversation on "Navigating Networking" at #APhA2024 with colleagues from academia, the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA, and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA). #networking #conferences American Pharmacists Association, AMCP

Irwin Lerner wasn’t just the President and CEO of Hoffmann-La Roche. He was a communicator passionate about the value of prescription medicines to society, a patient advocate who established the earliest patient assistance programs, and a policy pioneer who helped shape PDUFA and Hatch-Waxman and expedite drug approvals. It was an honor to hear his friends, family, and colleagues speak about his legacy of leadership and mentorship while joining industry leaders today at the 2024 Leadership Symposium at the Blanche & Irwin Lerner Center for the Study of Pharmaceutical Management Issues at his beloved alma mater - Rutgers Business School.

At #AMCP2024, I had the pleasure of speaking with Cameron Santoro of AJMC - The American Journal of Managed Care about how we can ensure that patient-centricity remains at the core of all decision-making processes, from drug development to patient care delivery. I use the acronym IAD answer this question, which, coincidentally, is the airport my delayed plane is headed to. Wish me luck getting back home! https://lnkd.in/e2ttNb5m
