Tyler D. Wagner, PharmD, PhD, is a Director of Research for the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC), which sponsors and conducts research on health policy issues related to the development and use of innovative biopharmaceuticals to improve the health of patients.
Since joining NPC in 2023, Dr. Wagner has overseen health policy research related to value assessment, access to innovation—including work related to cell and gene therapies and vaccines—the Inflation Reduction Act, and health equity. Prior to joining NPC, Dr. Wagner worked as a research assistant at the Center for Pharmacy Practice Innovation at Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in real-world data and conducting real-world evidence studies utilizing electronic health record data.
His earlier career included experience within community pharmacy and at a large academic medical center, providing him with diverse clinical practice perspectives that inform his research. Dr. Wagner’s training includes a PhD in pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes research from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
