As HealthCareTN (HCTN) CEO, Phil is responsible for the development and deployment of effective education and activation of HCTN employer and stakeholder members in the design, delivery, and management of quality, cost effective and equitable employee benefits, as well as uniting employers and advocating on behalf of employers for meaningful health and healthcare reform.
Phil is a skilled strategist and collaborative leader with a proven track record of attracting, retaining, and inspiring employers and other healthcare stakeholders to work together to improve healthcare in the TN market. Phil is the current vice-chair of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchasers Board of Governors.
Prior to HCTN, Phil spent many years in the healthcare world, directing the benefits function for two large national employer organizations as well as working as an account executive in the broker/consultant space, managing benefit design strategies and employer relationships. Phil has led many successful benefits and wellness transformation efforts and has worked collaboratively with providers and other organizations in the community to improve the value of healthcare and the healthcare delivery system. Phil graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. degree in engineering, has a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southern Seminary, and resides in upper East Tennessee.
