Michael Barnard serves as Director of U.S. Government Policy and Advocacy at Sandoz, where he leads federal engagement and develops legislative strategies for the world’s largest generics and biosimilars manufacturer.
Earlier in his career, Michael worked in the U.S. Senate, advising members of the Senate Committee on Finance on myriad complex health policy issues, including the drafting of the Affordable Care Act and the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
Michael also served as Director of Federal Affairs at Johnson & Johnson where he managed federal policy development and engagement for one of the world’s foremost healthcare companies. He has also provided health policy and political advice to global healthcare clients at the law firm Akin Gump and strategic advocacy at the nonprofit health insurance provide Healthfirst.
He holds a Master’s in Political Science from American University and completed his undergraduate work in economics from the University of Oregon.
