Sean Karbowicz, Pharm.D. Sean Karbowicz is Founder and General Manager of MedSavvy, a medication marketplace where users can compare quality and shop for treatments. MedSavvy appraises therapies and assigns a letter grade to describe how well treatments improve outcomes, and provides easy access to medication safety, effectiveness, and costs, as well as concierge pharmacists to help people stretch their medication dollar. Backed by Cambia Health Solutions, MedSavvy leverages consumers’ choices to apply downward pressure on medication prices, while promoting clinical quality. Prior to MedSavvy, Sean held clinical and operational pharmacy leadership positions at Regence BlueCross BlueShield, developing and overseeing products and evidence-based programs to promote safe, cost-effective use of medications for health plans and pharmacy benefit managers. He is a member of professional pharmacist organizations such as AMCP. He is passionate about advancing best practices in evidence-based medicine, technology, and public policy to help everyday people improve their health, while addressing the overall affordability of medication. Sean earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut, his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Oregon State University, and completed his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
