Susan Campbell, PhD, American Airlines wellness strategist, is a lifelong warrior mobilizing people, organizations, and places by promoting the “we” in wellness. Her team currently works with diverse workgroups across the organizational spectrum. Under her leadership, the team has expanded connections of care by layering in prevention and acute care upon occupational health in 11 onsite locations as well as transitioning the broader global EAP function to an external vendor. She’s been able to build a common agenda for mental and emotional health, managing weight, and enhancing personal and community well-being by learning from and developing close working relationships with unionized health and aeromedical leaders, in addition to corporate management and employee resource groups. As the former President and Chief Mission Officer of The Cooper Institute and Department of Defense (DoD) department head, Susan guided program design, development and evaluation in grants funded to reduce chronic disease in large populations. Her work has been funded through CDC, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, NFL Foundation, and Michael and Susan Dell Foundation among others. Susan has authored well-being materials for CDC and the American Heart Association and developed CME weight management courses along with patient weight loss tools and resources.
