Rosa Novo is the Employee Benefits Director in the Office of Risk and Benefits Management for the Miami-Dade County School Board. Mrs. Novo’s 33-year career with the district includes the administration of the district’s self-insured healthcare plan, overseeing a team of 38 staffers with a healthcare cost of is $360 million, the annual cost of offering healthcare coverage to 71,000 covered lives (35,000 employees plus dependents and 8,400 retirees plus dependents.) Mrs. Novo is responsible for creating strategic health and wellness programs. She created the district’s employee wellness program Well Way which educates and engages employees on the seven dimensions of wellness. Her wellness focus is to increase awareness of both benefits and personal health status while establishing and maintaining a workplace that encourages environmental and social support for a healthy lifestyle. Mrs. Novo received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Service Administration from Barry University. Mrs. Novo has been a member of the Florida Alliance for Healthcare Value Coalition since 2008, Board Member since 2017. Ms. Novo serves as a Member of the National Alliance for Healthcare in Washington D.C., Board Member of the Purchase Leadership Committee. she serves as the district’s representative in Cigna Health Care Disparity Council, through the Miami-Dade County Health Department is a member of the Worksite Wellness Committee, Health Promotion and Disease Management Committee, Worksite Smoking Cessation Committee, plus other associations, consortiums, and RFP committees throughout Miami-Dade County.
