Renee Turner-Bailey is the Director of the Social Security Department of The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW). Ms. Turner-Bailey has served in various roles for the Union for over 20 years. In her role with the UAW, she negotiates and interprets labor contracts, manages relationships with employer counterparts in benefit areas, including health care, disability, pensions, and unemployment insurance and addresses elevated issues related to over 50,000 individual members. Prior to her employment at the UAW, Ms. Turner-Bailey served as Vice President of Community Health for the Greater Detroit Area Health Council, where she led educational efforts for Plan First!, extending family planning services to low-income women, and initiated a community-wide project to address disparities in care. Her experience also includes Manager, Health Care Quality, Communications, and Policy for Ford Motor Company, where she led projects to collect and analyze data, report on quality of care, and expand employee education. Renee currently serves on the Michigan Certificate of Need Commission (past Chairperson). She is also on the National Institute for Health Care Reform Board, the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchasers Coalition’s Race, Health, and Equity Advisory Committee, the Health Staff Group of the Economic Alliance for Michigan and is a past member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Renee is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, and a Master of Health Services Administration from the School of Public Health.
