Healthcare Innovation and aligned incentives are at the very core of Bret’s occupational passions. This transformative initiative builds on his previous work that brought a new and innovative Rx solution to the market in 2022 focused on total purchasing transparency for branded drugs. Bret is part of the Healthcare Innovation Center at Pfizer focused on developing transformative solutions designed/built/created to tackle complex healthcare problems globally. He re-joined Pfizer in 2014 from Kohl’s Department Stores, where he served as the Director of Benefits. In his role at Kohls, he was responsible for developing and implementing strategic benefit design, Healthcare Reform planning, leave of absence and disability programming, and the administration of employee health and welfare benefit programs for 140,000 Kohl’s employees. His innovative benefit design strategies saved Kohl’s over $14 million in 2013, and more than $15 million in 2014 while improving employee engagement and participation in benefit offerings. Much of this time was spent working directly with large self-funded employers to design, implement, and measure innovative benefit designs, wellness programming, and member engagement initiatives. Bret holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science and a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University.
