As Vice President of Policy, Alan Gilbert works directly with PBGH members to prioritize and advance important strategic, legislative and regulatory efforts that improve health and health care for America’s workers and their families. He has extensive experience working across all aspects of the U.S. health care system to improve health outcomes and reduce costs.
Alan previously served in senior executive roles at Anthem, Inc. and GE, where he led efforts on the social determinants of health and designed multi-sectoral programs to improve health and reduce costs with community leaders, health systems, employers, governments and national and local philanthropies. He has also worked at the highest levels of the federal government as a chief counsel in the U.S. Senate, in legislative affairs at HHS and as the health policy advisor in the White House for President George W. Bush.
Alan holds a J.D. from Louisiana State University Law School and a degree in International Trade and Finance from Louisiana State University. He is based in Washington, D.C.
