Dr. JaBaris Swain is a cardiothoracic transplant surgeon-scientist and global health scholar, holding key roles in the pharmaceutical industry, academic medicine, and public health sectors. He began his pharmaceutical career with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, contributing to early clinical development and pharmacology programs. His remarkable work includes a novel imaging technique for assessing pulmonary hemodynamics. His expertise is in humanitarian cardiac surgery, cardiology education, and international public health, making substantial contributions in resource-limited settings like Rwanda and Haiti. Holding a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and an MPH from Harvard, he completed his clinical training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiopulmonary transplantation. Currently, he is pursuing an Executive MBA at Wharton. In addition to his commitments, Dr. Swain mentors medical trainees at the University of Pennsylvania and volunteers as a medical director at the Dr. Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity.
