Michael P. McDermott, MD is the president and CEO of Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) in Fredericksburg, VA. MWHC is a fully integrated, not-for-profit regional health system with more than 60 outpatient healthcare facilities and wellness services, four emergency departments, and two hospitals, Mary Washington Hospital, a 471-bed regional medical center, and Stafford Hospital, a 100-bed community hospital. A diagnostic and interventional radiologist, McDermott practiced medicine in the greater Fredericksburg region for over 17 years with Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg before being selected to lead MWHC in 2015. McDermott received his undergraduate degree at Villanova University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He performed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and Interventional Radiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical System. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. McDermott is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology, a Baldridge Executive Fellow, and a certified Physician Builder for Epic.
