Dr. Saju Joseph completed medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed surgical residency at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center under the leadership of Dr. Josef E. Fischer. During training, he won the prestigious Harvard Housestaff and Fellows Teaching award. Through Dr. Fischer’s mentorship, Dr. Joseph had the opportunity to complete his fellowship in Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh under O. James Garden, Regus Professor of Surgery. He again won a teaching award. He worked in academic surgery doing an array of complex surgical oncology and general surgery. He’s been involved in translational research in angiogenesis, wrote eight book chapters, published numerous papers, and was the editor for a book on Point-of-Care-Ultrasound for First Responders. He continues to be an active member of several academic surgical societies, serves on the editorial board of six journals, and is a reviewer for many others. He regularly presents research and gives lectures on surgical, regenerative medicine, and wound care topics. He has had the opportunity to serve as a visiting professor for the Colombian Association of Surgery and as an advisor to Governor Abbott regarding emergency and trauma services.
