Cheryl Mayo currently manages the HR Budget, Contracts and development of strategic employment initiatives for the City of Dallas. Prior to the City, Cheryl managed community affairs for the office of the Dallas County District Attorney; and was the lead executive consultant in establishing a philanthropic arm for an international, faith based and entertainment enterprise. It was in the midst of this transition around December 2021, Cheryl wrote, published and released her first book, TRANSITIONS: Meeting God in the Midst of Change - A Journey of Faith. Successfully surviving transition has definitely been an essential part of Cheryl’s life path. For many years, she was the visionary voice in the community as the Senior Director of Population Health and Insurance Services for Children’s Health System of Texas (CHST). In this work, she was leading advocacy, collective impact, economic, and community development initiatives to support Children’s Health in the re-design of their pediatric healthcare model. Before joining Children’s, Cheryl served 1,500 children and families as the Executive Director of West Dallas Community Centers working closely with members of the Dallas City Council and Texas State and National legislature in positive community transformation initiatives.
